flatsound put out a song: we could live near the beach. I like it a lot.
In the comments of that, @homunculeast wrote a poem. I read it a couple years back, and I wrote a poem then.
I started writing again, so I cleaned up some stuff and decided to put it out here.
Thank you to both flatsound and homunculeast.
Maybe you would hurt me,
Hurt me,
Just a little,
Or maybe you would kill me,
Watch my body drop,
And lay me down by the riverbed,
Or maybe you would hold me,
Maybe for a second,
maybe for a while,
Or maybe you would never let go.
Maybe we’d be more people who didn’t make it,
Or maybe we could have it all,
Somewhere to go back to,
A reason to go back,
Maybe we could.
Maybe we could live in the mountains,
And we would peer down on the city folk,
And conjure up their lives in our heads,
Maybe we could reside in a forest,
A small treehouse covered in vines.
Maybe you could hold me,
Maybe you would never let go,
Maybe you would.
Or maybe you could kill me,
Watch my eyes go pale,
Watch my body float away from shore,
Maybe you could hurt me,
Maybe a lot, maybe a little.
